Organizing a group trip to a concert
A major concert is even better with a group! But organizing takes attention. Here's how to do it.
1. Ticket buying
- Buy together — so you'll definitely be near each other
- Check group discounts — often available for 4+ people
- One person handles it — less confusion
- Spare ticket — in case someone joins last minute
2. Accommodation
- Airbnb apartment — cheapest and most fun for groups
- Book early — Budapest fills up fast in summer
- Choose a central location — convenient transport for everyone
3. Transport
- Minibus: worth renting for 8-15 people
- Train: group discounts with MAV (Hungarian Railways)
- Public transport: Budapest Pass for the duration of your visit
4. Schedule
- Concert day: wake up, sightseeing, lunch, rest, get ready, concert
- Next day: brunch, landmarks, head home
- Group chat: WhatsApp/Telegram for coordination
5. Finances
- Shared pot: for tickets and accommodation
- Individual costs: food, drinks
- Splitwise app: for final settlement
6. Important
- Agree on a meeting point at the venue
- Have a Plan B — if someone gets separated
- Share important numbers (accommodation, taxi, first aid)
How much time?
Ideal: 2 days / 1 night. Arrive in the afternoon, concert in the evening, sightseeing the next day, then head home.
